Gallantry Awards Indian Armed Forces 2018. The President of India, Ram Nath Kovind presented Gallantry and Distinguished Service awards to armed forces personnel at a solemn ceremony at the Rashtrapati Bhawan in New Delhi. The Gallantry awards are given for displaying conspicuous gallantry, indomitable courage and extreme devotion to duty. Three Kirti Chakras and 17 Shaurya Chakras were conferred to armed personnel this year, among which one Kirti Chakra and five Shaurya Chakras were given posthumously.
