Today we cover 3 different style of Muay Thai guards, suited for different body types and style of fighter. When choosing your style, you ultimately want to consider the type of fighter you and your opponent are. Feel free to blend and use what works best for you -- that's what being a martial artist is all about! 1. Long Guard - Often utilized by taller fighters; hand traps, kicks, knees, and elbows. 2. Muay Khao - translates to "knee fighter" as someone who likes to close off the distance, clinch up, and work knees and elbow strikes. 3. Dutch Style - boxing heavy, tight guard, utilizing punch-to-kick combos.
